Health Seminar: Planning for Long-Term Care Through a Healthcare Lens | 08/23/25 @ 10:30AM

As our parents age or as we enter middle age and begin to think about the quality of life in our later years, long-term care often becomes an important yet unfamiliar challenge many families face. To help the community gain a deeper understanding of the U.S. long-term care system and its real-life challenges, the Dallas Chinese Community Center is honored to invite Dr. Alice Chen, D.O., Ph.D., a physician with extensive clinical and caregiving experience, to host an insightful and accessible health seminar on this vital topic that affects personal dignity and family well-being.

About Dr. Alice Chen:
Born and raised in Taiwan, Dr. Chen graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University with a degree in Public Health. She then pursued advanced degrees in the U.S., earning a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from A.T. Still University. After completing her residency in internal medicine at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, she served in leadership and clinical roles at several major healthcare institutions, including Medical City of Denton, Integrity Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, North Austin Medical Center, and multiple nursing homes and hospice organizations. Currently practicing at Plano Family Medicine, she is dedicated to serving families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with a focus on the needs of the Asian community regarding elder care and chronic disease management.

Dr. Chen often emphasizes, “Long-term care is not just a medical issue — it’s a preparation for life choices.” Through this seminar, she hopes to empower more people to understand that when illness strikes, when our loved ones become unable to care for themselves, or when difficult decisions arise, there are more options available and fewer regrets to face.
