The American Association of Chinese Painters and Calligraphers was founded in 1998 by a group of Chinese American artists in New York City. Headed by their president Professor Maw Chyuan Wang, they share the passion for Chinese arts by organizing collective and individual exhibitions and regular meetings of art discussions. With a spirit of giving and a mission to promote the thousands years old art form, they travel to major cities in the US, China, Europe and Australia to hold exhibitions and give demonstrations.
Eighty-two years old professor Wang embodies the Chinese scholarly gentleman. He taught Chinese philosophy, literature and theology in the universities of Taiwan, Argentina, US and Macao for over forty years while he pursued his passion in Chinese painting and calligraphy. An accomplished artist and art critic, Professor Wang wants to share his vast understanding of the rich Chinese culture and art with anyone interested.
Headed by Professor Wang , the visiting artists are Ms. Karen Shee, Mr. Edward Leong, Ms. Winnie Tsai, Ms.Yen-Ming Mung and Ms. Agatha Lin Weiss. One commonality among them is their love of Chinese arts started at young age. While pursuing their own career in other fields, they studied the work of great old masters of Wei, Jing, and Tang dynasties. Mentored by Professor Wang, they grew into mature artists and developed their own individual styles. They regularly hold exhibitions in NYC and other major cities and earned critical acclaim.
